The Real Maestranza de Caballería de Sevilla presented this morning in the Hall of Posters of the Maestranza the pictorial poster of the bullfighting season of 2019. It is a work of the Salamanca painter María Gómez, who has been accompanied on the spot by the Lieutenant of Big Brother of the Real Maestranza of Cavalry, Santiago Leon, the also painter Juan Lacomba and Ramón Valencia on the part of the Company Pagés.
María Gómez, born in 1953, is a painter with a long and intense artistic career, with both national and international recognition. Unquestionable figure in the context of Spanish painting since the 80s of the twentieth century. His works are present in the most important collections, both private and institutional in the country.
The artist confessed that this is her first bullfighting poster, for which she has used a technique of tempera and acrylic, and that has had the epicenter of Chicuelo's centenary, having wanted to represent the cast that immortalized the master of La Alameda.
Juan Fernández Lacomba defined María Gómez as a taurófila artist and the second woman who paints the Seville season poster. He highlighted her 'his very personal poetic world, based on the figure and his own way of seeing things, with a slow and intimate tempo'.
