The first bullring in Bilbao, called the Plaza de Toros de Vistalegre, was inaugurated on 8 August 1882, under the direction of the architect Sabino Goikoetxea Etxebarria, with a seating capacity of 12,394, but this bullring disappeared and a new bullring was inaugurated in Bilbao on 19 June 1962, nine months after the fire that destroyed the old bullring.The architect of the new bilbao bullring was. Luís de Gana y Hoyos with the collaboration of the Bilbao City Council, the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Bilbao.
