See all the bullfights of Montalvo
The history of this renowned cattle ranch began when Vicente Martínez acquired it and, after several crossbreedings, in 1904 incorporated the bull Diano from Eduardo Ibarra. Then, in 1925, Antonio Pérez-Tabernero bought the portion belonging to Pedro Fernández Martínez, heir of Vicente Martínez. This portion was registered in the name of Pérez-Tabernero's wife, María Montalvo, and adopted the brand and colors that identify it today.
After María Montalvo's death in 1942, the ranch was advertised in the name of her heirs. In 1967, Juan María Pérez-Tabernero Montalvo registered it in his own name. In the 1970s, he began crossbreeding it with cattle from Juan Pedro Domecq. In 1984, he transferred the ranch to his son, Juan Ignacio, who registered it as Montalvo. In 1994, cattle from Zalduendo and D. Daniel Ruiz were incorporated; these lines remain separate from the original Martínez line.
