The Sevillian cut one ear from his first bull before finding, with the final bull of the afternoon, the opportunity to deliver the standout faena of the Goyesca.

He had already shown his quality with the cape, producing composed verónicas. With the muleta came naturalness, rhythm and, above all, his work with the left hand. He finished with a sword thrust and was awarded both ears. Three trophies in total and a Puerta Grande for Juan Ortega, who emerged as the major triumph of the Goyesca.

Diego Ventura enjoyed a particularly remarkable day in Ronda. In the morning, he took part in the 42nd Ronda Rejoneo Bullfight and left the arena on shoulders alongside Sebastián Fernández. Just a few hours later, he returned to the ring to open the Goyesca Bullfight.

Facing a bull from David Ribeiro Telles that showed little willingness to engage, Ventura had to provide much of the excitement himself. His performance grew in intensity and his effectiveness with the rejón de muerte ultimately secured him two ears.

The result produced an unusual image: Ventura passed through the Puerta de Pedro Romero twice on the same day, first after the rejoneo bullfight and later following the Goyesca.

Manzanares finds triumph with his second bull

José María Manzanares had few opportunities with the first bull of his lot, which lost part of a horn during the lidia and remained in the ring amid protests from the crowd.

His opportunity came with the sixth bull. Manzanares managed to build his faena in the area where the bull sought refuge and completed his performance with a sword thrust delivered while receiving the charge. He was awarded both ears and secured his exit on shoulders.

Morante has few options on the most eagerly awaited afternoon

Much of the anticipation surrounding this year's Goyesca centred on Morante de la Puebla, but his lot gave him few opportunities to produce the bullfighting the Ronda crowd had hoped to see.

His first bull lost part of a horn when entering the horse and showed little strength. With his second, Morante produced some of his finest moments with the cape, particularly through his verónicas and chicuelinas, but the Garcigrande bull did not provide the conditions required for a more substantial faena. His final result was silence and an ovation.

The numerical result was significant, with Ventura, Manzanares and Ortega all leaving on shoulders, although the development of the bullfight was conditioned by the performance of the Garcigrande bulls.

On September 19, he will travel to Almodóvar del Campo to perform with Talavante and David de Miranda against Santiago Domecq bulls. The following day, September 20, he will appear at La Glorieta in Salamanca, alongside Ismael Martín and Julio Norte, with bulls from Hermanos García Jiménez and Olga Jiménez.

Two days later, on September 22, Morante will be in Logroño for a special bull breeding competition, where he will share the bill with Alejandro Talavante and Fabio Jiménez. On September 27, Morante will face one of the standout engagements of this final part of the season: Seville's Feria de San Miguel.

One day later, on October 10, the bullfighter from La Puebla will travel to Palavas-les-Flots, France, where he is announced alongside Clemente. Just 48 hours later, another of the most important dates on his calendar will arrive.

Madrid, El Pilar and a possible season finale in Jaén

On October 12, Spain's National Day, Morante will enter the ring at Las Ventas, where he is announced alongside Héctor Gutiérrez and Aarón Palacio, with bulls from Garcigrande and Núñez del Cuvillo.

Morante's appearance in Madrid will be one of the major dates on his autumn calendar, coming after several weeks of almost back-to-back engagements.

To these 14 confirmed engagements must be added the two appearances Morante is expected to make at Zaragoza's Feria del Pilar, further increasing his presence at the major fairs towards the end of the season.

And there could still be one final date. Jaén is being considered as a possible venue for Morante's final appearance of the season on October 18, although that engagement is still awaiting confirmation.

If confirmed, Morante would make at least 17 appearances between September 4 and October 18, an intense final stretch of barely a month and a half that will see him appear at numerous major bullrings on the Spanish bullfighting calendar.

The performances of Juan Ortega, Roca Rey and Aarón Palacio in Tarazona brought success for all three matadors. Roca Rey was powerful and commanding, taking four ears and a tail; Juan Ortega produced the most classical bullfighting of the afternoon and collected three ears, while Aarón Palacio claimed the maximum trophies from the third bull before being left without options with the sixth.

Roca Rey gave the second bull a varied reception with the cape, combining verónicas, chicuelinas and a fine media to finish. The Peruvian continued to impress with the cape during a quite in the centre of the ring, setting the scene for an intense faena that began on his knees.

Two series with the right hand showed command and a low muleta, before he switched to the left, producing long, sweeping passes. As the bull began to fade, Roca Rey raised the intensity. He shortened the distance and executed circular passes in the closest quarters, bringing the crowd fully into the faena.

A fine sword thrust completed his performance. Two ears and a tail.

The fifth bull came out loose into the Tarazona ring, but Roca Rey managed to settle and fix the Jandilla bull from the beginning of the faena. He worked in rounds on the right, with authority and a low hand, before switching to the left, where the bull showed good qualities.

Without the sword and working at close quarters, the Peruvian produced an exciting finale. After the sword thrust, he was awarded another two ears. The bull was honoured with a lap of the ring.

Juan Ortega produces the afternoon's most classical bullfighting

Juan Ortega's opening cape work with the first bull immediately caught the attention of the crowd. After the Jandilla bull had fulfilled its encounter with the horse, the Sevillian began his muleta work with genuflected passes.

Little by little, he linked his series together and produced moments of very high quality on both horns. After completing his performance with two-handed passes, he delivered a full sword thrust and was awarded both ears. The bull was also honoured with a lap of the ring.

Ortega brought the fourth bull towards the centre with genuflected cape passes. His opening exchanges by the boards were full of torero character before he took the Jandilla bull towards the middle of the ring with muleta passes on one knee.

His series, marked by control and purity, prevailed over the more difficult charges of his opponent. Juan Ortega particularly enjoyed himself when bullfighting naturally with the left hand, producing deep and measured passages. A sword thrust brought the faena to an end and earned him one ear.

Aarón Palacio takes two ears and a tail

Aarón Palacio greeted the third bull with three largas cambiadas on his knees followed by verónicas. He continued to display variety with the cape during a later quite by cordobinas.

The Aragonese matador began his performance with the traditional cartucho de pescado against a noble bull that was limited in strength. Understanding the timing and height required by his opponent, Aarón Palacio gradually constructed a faena that reached its finest moments at close quarters.

He finished with manoletinas before suffering a nasty somersault as he went in to kill. A full sword thrust completed the performance and he was awarded two ears and a tail.

Palacio went to the puerta de chiqueros to receive the final bull of the afternoon. After a larga cambiada, he produced some fine chicuelinas finished with a revolera.

The Jandilla bull initially showed good rhythm in the Aragonese matador's muleta. However, after a heavy fall, the bull lost any possibility of further showing its qualities and had to be dispatched.

The afternoon was also marked by an image Tarazona had not witnessed for decades: 63 years later, the ‘No hay billetes’ sign was displayed once again.

The artistic result matched the expectation. Roca Rey collected four ears and a tail, Juan Ortega took three trophies, and Aarón Palacio claimed two ears and a tail from the third bull.

The Corrida de Candiles in Marbella once again became one of the major bullfighting events on the Costa del Sol and of the summer season. The “No hay billetes” sign confirmed the strong return of an event that has regained its place on the calendar, on a night in which Morante de la Puebla, Manzanares and Aarón Palacio were carried out on shoulders.

The three matadors found different ways to make an impact against a bullfight from Cayetano Muñoz, very attractive overall, although at times lacking in breed and strength. Morante brought cadence and personality, Manzanares produced passages of fine bullfighting, and Aarón Palacio once again showed ambition, ability and a strong connection with the crowd.

Aarón Palacio opens the night with two ears

Aarón Palacio immediately lifted the Marbella crowd with several kneeling farol passes close to the boards, before also shining in a chicuelina quite. He began the faena on his knees as well, tight to the boards, with several two-handed high passes that were warmly received by the spectators.

The bull, noble and classy, felt the demands of that opening and gradually faded during the faena. Palacio maintained the intensity and his connection with the crowd, one of the main reasons behind his success. He finished with mondeñinas and killed at the second attempt. Two ears.

With those two trophies already secured, the young Aragonese matador held nothing back against the sixth. He greeted it with two tijerillas on one knee and once again showed a mature and composed version of his bullfighting despite his youth and limited experience as a matador.

After a somewhat rushed and disordered opening, Palacio settled and gradually linked series on both hands with a manageable bull. The faena had substance, taste and recognition from the crowd. One ear completed a three-trophy night for him.

Morante, softness and torería against the first

The first bull of the night took time to appear, but the wait soon produced one of the highlights of the evening. Morante de la Puebla received a low, harmonious bull with verónicas, the animal initially running loose but showing a good charge.

The Cayetano Muñoz bull, which knocked down the horse at the first meeting, had class but lacked greater commitment and sometimes hesitated before taking the muleta. Its charge remained unpredictable at certain moments.

With a firm stance and great softness, Morante linked highly personal series on both horns. Several beautifully drawn natural passes stood out in a measured faena full of taste that reached the crowd easily.

The fourth was short on presence, breed and strength, and struggled to move freely. Morante made the effort and managed to extract what he could from a limited opponent, building the faena through patience and his own personality.

The stamp of his bullfighting and his special connection with the public kept the performance alive. A series of natural passes towards the end and the final molinetes raised the level of the faena.

A low sword thrust brought the performance to an end. One ear, which added to the trophy from the first and allowed him to join his companions in the shoulder-high exit.

Manzanares cuts two ears from the second

The second bull showed greater mobility, and Manzanares opened with flowing verónicas. The Cayetano Muñoz bull had nobility and rhythm, qualities the Alicante matador used to build a faena that steadily improved.

Manzanares produced elegant and well-shaped moments on both hands, with particular importance given to his right-handed bullfighting. The faena had poise and measure and found a strong response from the stands.

After a sword thrust that landed slightly low and forward, he was awarded two ears.

The sword denies Manzanares a trophy from the fifth

The fifth, limited in presence, loose-fleshed and light in the face, had qualities that Manzanares managed to bring out during the faena.

The Alicante matador handled the bull in a way that allowed its mobility and quality to emerge. The faena grew especially on the right hand, with linked series that found an echo in the stands.

This time, failure with the sword prevented him from adding another trophy. He was met with silence.
