The history of this prominent cattle ranch began in 1937. Following the fragmentation of Juan Pedro Domecq Núñez's ranch in Villavicencio, previously known as Veragua, José Enrique Calderón Serrano purchased the lot belonging to Salvador Domecq Díez in 1938. Upon Calderón's death, Carmen Calderón Alcalde's ranch passed into the hands of Gerardo Ortega Sánchez in 1949. In 1963, Ortega acquired a significant group of females and two stallions from the Marquis of Domecq. In 1973, he passed the ranch to his sons José and Francisco, with the latter becoming the sole owner in 1984. Francisco, in turn, transferred it to his brother José in 1985. The ranch was built with cows and stallions belonging to the Marquis of Domecq, as well as a group of cows belonging to Juan Pedro Domecq and Luis Algarra Polera. In 1994, three stallions were incorporated from the Los Guateles, S.A. stud farm. In 1999, the Marqués de Domecq line was eliminated, retaining only the Juan Pedro Domecq y Díez line.
