The history of this prominent stud farm began in 1885 when Luis da Gamma purchased several stallions from Joaquín Murube's stud farm. He continued purchasing cattle until 1904, using several stallions of the same origin. Then, in 1911, Antonio Pérez-Tabernero acquired the stud farm and crossed it with Parladé stallions. In 1919, he expanded the farm with a batch of females and a stallion from Luis Gamero Cívico, and in 1920, he incorporated a batch of females from Tamarón's widow.
After eliminating the cattle from this acquisition, he modified the brand and formed the stud farm with the batch he inherited from his father. In 1985, Domingo Hernández purchased the stud farm and, in 1992, sold the brand to Francisco Medina, who exchanged it for the current El Ventorrillo brand. Medina established the ranch with a herd of 150 cows and four bulls from Juan Pedro Domecq.
In 2005, Fidel San Román acquired the ranch and created El Montecillo, incorporating cattle from El Ventorrillo, Sotillo Gutiérrez, Montealto, Conde de Mayalde, and cattle from the Herederos de Don Antonio Arribas Sancho. In 2023, Cebaderos de Rozalén S.L.U. took over ownership of the ranch.
