History of the Our Lady of San Lorenzo Bullfighting Fair in Valladolid

The Our Lady of San Lorenzo Bullfighting Fair is the most important bullfighting event in Valladolid and one of the most prominent events of September in Spain. It is held in conjunction with the patron saint festivities dedicated to Our Lady of San Lorenzo, the city's patron saint, whose feast day is September 8th.

Valladolid's bullfighting tradition boasts centuries of history. Bullfights were already being held in the city's squares and public spaces during the Middle Ages, evolving over time until it was consolidated in the current Valladolid Bullring, inaugurated in 1890. Since then, the arena has hosted some of the most memorable afternoons in bullfighting history, featuring the leading figures of each era.
