The Albahaca Bullfighting Fair is one of the most emblematic events of the San Lorenzo Festival in Huesca and one of the most important bullfighting events of the Spanish summer. Its name comes from the traditional basil that the people of Huesca carry during the patron saint festivities dedicated to Saint Lawrence, an inseparable symbol of the city and its popular celebrations.

Huesca's bullfighting traditions date back centuries, with references to bullfighting events linked to the patron saint festivities from ancient times. However, the Albahaca Bullfighting Fair became an established event with the construction and development of the Huesca Bullring, inaugurated in 1929, which has since become the bullfighting epicenter of the Huesca festivities.

For decades, the fair has brought together the leading figures of national and international bullfighting. Legendary bullfighters such as Antonio Ordóñez, El Cordobés, Paco Camino, José Tomás, Enrique Ponce, El Juli, and Morante de la Puebla have been part of lineups that have marked the history of bullfighting in Aragon. The fair has always been characterized by combining established figures, promising young talents, and popular festivities, maintaining a close relationship with the bullfighting clubs and the festive atmosphere of San Lorenzo.

In recent years, the Albahaca Bullfighting Fair has experienced significant revitalization under the management of Tauroemoción, achieving record attendance figures and significant national impact. The 2025 edition was considered one of the best in its recent history, reaching over 95% occupancy and displaying several "sold out" signs.

The current fair maintains a varied program that includes bullfights, novilladas (bullfights with young bulls), rejoneo (bullfighting on horseback), recortadores (bull-leaping) competitions, and popular festivities. Furthermore, the official presentation of the posters in such symbolic arenas as Las Ventas in Madrid reflects the growth and prestige achieved by the Huesca bullfighting festival within the national bullfighting scene.

Today, the Albahaca Bullfighting Festival is considered one of the leading bullfighting events in northern Spain, blending tradition, popular culture, and bullfighting passion within the incomparable setting of the San Lorenzo festivities in Huesca.
