The history of this prominent cattle ranch began when Carlos Conradi bought the property from Don Rafael Laffite in 1885. That same year, one of the two divisions of the property passed to Don Francisco Gallardo. In 1890, Don José Moreno Santamaría acquired the property. When he died in 1910, the property was divided between his brother, Don Anastasio, and his nephews, Don Francisco and Don Justo José Moreno Santamaría. In 1923, a batch of cows from Campos Varela was added to the property, which in 1948 was divided between Don José and Don Francisco. Upon Don José's death, his daughter, Doña Pilar Rufino Martín, inherited the property. In 1983, José Romero Pérez purchased the property and eliminated all the previous herds, creating it with 133 cows, 36 males, and 5 bulls, which he purchased from Antonio Ordóñez (formerly Urquijo) in March 1984. This is the current origin of the ranch. In 1987, Pedro Gutiérrez Moya acquired the property and placed it in the name of his children. Since 2013, it has been advertised under the name El Capea.
