Talavante, the Great Winner of San Isidro 2026 at Las Ventas

The 2026 San Isidro Fair now has its official list of award winners. The jury convened by Plaza 1, made up of specialized journalists, has announced the awards recognizing the most outstanding names of a festival that once again placed Las Ventas at the center of the bullfighting season.

The main figure among the award winners was Alejandro Talavante, named Overall Winner of San Isidro 2026. The jury’s decision also produced an unusual outcome: a four-way tie for Best Bullfight Performance, an honor shared by Talavante, Sebastián Castella, Diego Urdiales and Antonio Ferrera.

An Awards List Shared Between Established Stars and Rising Talents

The awards recognize not only the performances of leading matadors but also the work of novice bullfighters, rejoneadors and members of the bullfighting crews who stood out throughout the Madrid festival.

Among the notable names is Diego Urdiales, who received the award for Best Sword Thrust, while Ismael Martín was named Revelation Bullfighter of the Fair. Meanwhile, Álvaro Serrano earned the award for Best Novillero.

In the mounted bullfighting category, the award went to Diego Ventura, while Iván García achieved a double distinction as both Best Assistant in the Ring and Best Banderillero of the festival.

The Most Outstanding Bull and Breeding Ranch

In the livestock category, "Cantaor", bred by Victoriano del Río, was named Best Bull of San Isidro 2026. The award for Best Breeding Ranch was presented to Juan Pedro Domecq.
