Olivenza, the first major event of the bullfighting season

The Olivenza Fair opens this Friday, March 6th, once again setting the tone for the spring bullfighting season. On its 35th anniversary, the event maintains the hallmark that has made it a benchmark for the start of the season: a balance between established figures, up-and-coming bullfighters, and a clear commitment to youth.

In the following lines, we review the lineups day by day and the key aspects of a fair that, year after year, serves as a barometer of the season. Tickets are still available.

Friday, March 6th: Youth and debut with picadors. The event opens with a novillada (bullfight with young bulls) featuring the debut of David Gutiérrez, a student at the Badajoz Bullfighting School, who will face young bulls from the Talavante ranch. He will be joined by Tomás Bastos and Olga Casado. It's an event that allows us to gauge the strength of the new names and see how they handle the leap to a bullring that, given the timing and atmosphere, is sure to generate excitement.

Saturday, March 7: A highly anticipated lineup. Saturday's program features José María Manzanares, Daniel Luque, and Juan Ortega, who will face bulls from El Puerto de San Lorenzo. Three distinct styles will be on display against a ranch that regularly features in the major bullfighting festivals. An afternoon marked by the interest of the fans and the prestige of a trio destined to play a leading role throughout much of the season.

Sunday, March 8: A double bill and a high-profile finale. Sunday offers a double bill. In the morning, Borja Jiménez, David de Miranda, and Marco Pérez will face a mixed bullfight from Domingo Hernández and La Ventana del Puerto.

In the afternoon comes another highlight of the season: bulls from Victoriano del Río for Alejandro Talavante, who celebrates his 20th anniversary as a matador, alongside Emilio de Justo and Roca Rey.

A top-tier lineup will bring the festival to a close. Olivenza thus confirms its role as the starting point for the Spanish bullfighting season. History, innovation, and high standards come together in a venue that once again takes center stage on the bullfighting map. At Taquillaoficial.com, we have a variety of bullfight tickets available to enjoy events like Olivenza and the rest of the season.
